Variety selection is at the heart of a great mixture. A great deal of time and consideration is spent compiling the range of varieties that we feel are appropriate for the Castle Mixtures.

The excellent work conducted by the SAC trial sites (Ayr, Edinburgh and Aberdeen) are without question the most relevant source of variety data when compiling grass seed mixtures for our trading area. Data from DARD in Northern Ireland, NIAB in England and Wales and plant breeders is considered where relevant.

Castle Mixtures only contain the very best varieties from the SAC First Choice Recommended List. Our own unique variety trials allow us to fine tune this selection, particularly from a feeding value point of view (WSC – sugars, Protein, D-Value and ME).
